General objective:

At the end of the community posting, students are able to acquire  adequate knowledge, develop desirable attitude and  skills in taking care of individual, family and community with the effective utilization of available resources in the community.

Specific objectives:

Students are able to:

1.       understand the administrative setup and acquire adequate knowledge about the function s of   Health Care Centre/Rural Health Training Centre .

2.       practice activities of Health Care Centre/ Rural Health Training Centre.

3.      develop area map.

4.      conduct community survey

5.      identify family problems and formulate community diagnosis

6.      visit home and give age and need based  individual,  family  and community care.

7.      demonstrate bag technique

8.      prepare different types of AV aids for health education.

9.      conduct health education programmers

10.  participate in national health program/ activities

11.  participate in community health activities.

Demonstrates skills in:

I.                   Basic procedures:

1.      Bag techniques

2.      Vital signs assessment

3.      Urine test: Sugar test, Acetone test, Albumin test

4.      Dressing  (wound and surgical)

5.      Administration of oral medication

6.      Tropical drugs administration

7.      IM injection, SC injection, ID  injection and IV injection

8.      Drop instillation: eye, ear, and nose

9.      Eye irrigation

10.  Preparation of ORS

11.  Collect blood smear/sputum smear

II.                Health assessment

1.      Nutritional assessment of all age group

2.      Physical assessment of  newborn, children, adolescent and elderly

3.      Growth and development of paediatric population from newborn to adolescent

4.      Antenatal and Post natal assessment

III.             Heath education/ IEC activities.
