OBJECTIVES OF COMMUNITY HEALTH POSTING

CLASS: B.Sc.(Hons) Nursing, IInd Year.

Area of Community Posting: 

General objective:

At the end of the community posting, students are able to acquire  adequate knowledge, develop desirable attitude and  skill (practice) in taking care of individual, family and community with the effective utilization of available resources in the community.

Specific objectives:

Students are able to:

•          understand the administrative setup and acquire adequate knowledge about the function s of   Health Care Center/Rural Health Training Center .

•          practice administrative activities of Health Care Center/ Rural Health Training Center .

•         develop knowledge family folders of posted area

•          develop area map.

•         conduct community survey

•         do community diagnosis

•         go for home visit and give age and need based  individual,  family care and community care.

•         demonstrate bag technique

•         prepare different types of AV aids.

•         conduct health education programmers

•         participate in national health program and activities

•         participate in community health activities.

Community learning experience:

Demonstrates skills in:

•                     Basic procedures:

•         Bag techniques

•         Vital signs

•         Urine test: Sugar test, Acetone test, Albumin test

•         Dressing  (wound and surgical)

•         Administration of oral medication

•         Tropical administration

•         IM injection, SC injection, ID  injection and IV injection

•         Drop instillation: eye, ear, and nose

•         Eye irrigation

•         Preparation of ORS

•         Collect blood smear/sputum smear

•                     Health assessment

•         Nutritional assessment of all age group

•         Physical assessment of pediatric population from newborn to adolescent

•         Growth and development of pediatric population from newborn to adolescent

•         Antenatal assessment

•         Post natal assessment

•         Old age assessment

•                     Heath education:

•                     Individual health education

•                     Family health education

•                     Group health education by Conduct role play or puppet show
